University of California - Trans* Health Coverage  → uclgbtia.org

soft-intelligence:

This site lists which and how much which University of Californias (UCs) cover and provide trans* related health services, such as hormones and SRS.  Here they are copy/pasted for your convenience (last updated 2009 unless otherwise noted)

  • UC Berkeley [since 2009-2010 — lifetime max of $75,000 per student]
  • UC Davis [since 2009-2010 — lifetime max of $75,000 per student]
  • UC Irvine [since 2007-08 — amount unknown]
  • UC Los Angeles [since 2009-10 — lifetime max of $75,000 per student [UPDATED FOR 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR - PDF FILE]]
  • UC Riverside [ since 2009-10; USHIP—$25k/yr]
  • UC San Diego [since 2007-08 — up to $25,000 annually]
  • UC San Francisco [since 2008-09 — up to $30k annually]
  • UC Santa Barbara [since 2005-06 — amount unknown]
  • UC Santa Cruz [since 2008-09 — lifetime max of $75,000 per student]

This is just a brief list—the link contains more info about co-pays, deductibles, and more coverage.  There is also a national list of campus that provide SRS and hormones (Emerson College, Emory University, Harvard University [top surgeries only; mastectomy and breast augmentation], New York University, Portland State, Stanford University, + the UCs).

I just wanted to post this list for trans* folks in the UC system who might not know about these services and may need them.  I’ve also used the counseling services at UCLA (CAPS) and they are very queer/GSM-friendly.  You can see a list of counselors at UCLA here.

Signal boost if you can, thanks! ;3;
